Mr. Hassan Saleh Al Dhaferi, Assistant Prosecutor at Deira Prosecution indicated that UAE, since its incorporation, had given particular attention to children. The UAE legislature set several rules and laws, including the Children Rights Law issued in1972, which guaranteed the rights of compulsory education for all children, whether citizens or residents, followed by juvenile delinquents law. This law clarified the process of Juvenile Delinquency Prosecution. Later on several laws and regulations were in place, with last laws issued in this regard being Wademalaw and Child Protection law 2019.
Mr. Al Dhafer Disclosed last Monday, during the virtual meeting organized by CommunityDevelopment Authority in cooperation with DPP, that there is a drop in crimes committed by Juveniles during the Corona Pandemic. He added thatDPP provided a suitable environment to investigate with children through trained social and psychological specialists. Those specialists do their duty in rooms equipped for this purpose and suitable for children and juvenile delinquents.
